The SCC can be used with any P3 Portable Power Pack from Global Solar Energy and is designed specifically to connect to the P3 solar packs for continuous charging. Using the P3 solar pack and the Solar Charge Controller will help maintain the battery in a fully charged state. The charge light on the SCC indicates charging. The fully charged light indicates when charging is complete. |
|
Charging Features:
- GREEN light indicates battery is full
- When battery reaches 14.2V, the SCC will cut out thereby ensuring no overcharging of the battery
- YELLOW light indicates solar panel is charging battery
- When battery is below 13V, the SCC will allow charging to start.
NOTE: It is normal for both lights to flicker in and out during normal operation. |
|
Tips for Use:
- Solar Charge Controller should be placed within 5 feet of the battery and in a dry, well ventilated area.
- This Solar Charge Controller can support up to 105 watts of power. It is not advisable to use with greater wattage.
- All connections should be in parallel to ensure 12V- positive to positive, negative to negative

Solar Charge Controller Applications / How to Use: CAUTION: Ensure that you completely understand this instruction manual before using the Solar Charge Controller. |
|
1. For 12V Car Battery Application: Use SCC with P3 solar pack to trickle charge car batteries.
Recommended use: Connect 8 extension accessory cable to solar panel, then to the SAE plug on the SCC marked SOLAR (Fig. 1 & Fig. 2). Connect SAE plug from SCC marked BATTERY to battery clamp accessory cable (Fig. 2). Attach red battery clamp to positive (+) car battery terminal and black battery clamp to negative (-) car battery terminal. |
|
|
|
Warning ... Attaching battery clamps in reverse polarity could result in shocks, burns or permanent damage to the car battery or solar panel. |
|
2. For Mobile Phones and Other Devices Application: To charge cell / mobile phones and other devices
Recommended use: Connect solar panel directly to SAE plug on the SCC marked SOLAR (or connect to 8 extension cable and then to SCC marked SOLAR). Connect SAE plug from SCC marked BATTERY to cigarette lighter adapter receptacle accessory cable or barrel tip accessory cable and connect to cell phone or electronic device for charging. |
|
Troubleshooting: Always test outdoors under optimal sunlight conditions.
- Inspect the connections between P3 Folding Solar Power Panel and the SCC.
- Inspect all plugs, outlets, clamps, connectors and cables to ensure they are not damaged or cut.
- If the connections are all secure, use a volt meter or 12V test light to check voltage
between the positive and negative electrodes. This check should be done using the 12V vehicle power plug. Open
voltage can range from 16V to 24V.
- If battery voltage is 14.2 or higher, the GREEN light should be on. If battery voltage
is between 13 and 14.2, the YELLOW light should be on. If battery voltage is 13 or lower, the YELLOW light should be on.
- For vehicle battery charging, check to make sure that the battery is in good condition.
Over time battery performance decreases the battery may need to be replaced.
NOTE: Some vehicle batteries require more power (current) than the solar power panel purchased. If problems persist you may require a larger solar power panel. |

FAQs How many panels can I connect to my 7 AMP SCC?
You can connect up to 105 Watts of solar power to the SCC. Panels should be connected
in parallel – positive to positive, negative to negative.
When will the Charging indication light green) light up?
The charging indication green light will light up when the battery voltage reaches 14.2 Volts
and the SCC will prevent the solar panels from overcharging the battery. It is normal for the
SCC charging light to flicker on and off as the battery voltage cuts in and out.
Where do I find the accessory cables described in the “How to Use” section?
You can purchase a five piece Accessory
Cable Kit from here.
The kit includes a 12V vehicle power plug, 12V vehicle power receptacle, battery clamps, 4” barrel connector and 8’ extension
cable. |
|
| ! WARNING ! Solar Powered Panels generate electricity when exposed to light, even when not connected in a circuit. Shocks and burns can result from contact with module output wiring, misuse or improper connections. Contact battery manufacturer for questions on battery specifications before charging. |
